Description

The Associate Director, Global Cross Border guides the performance and development of international logistics flows across markets. The role involves network optimisation, freight and customs coordination, partner governance, cost analysis and cross-functional execution. The leader must translate a global operating strategy into practical local processes, strengthen shipment visibility and maintain service quality while the network scales across different regulatory and commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review global cross-border operating plans covering freight flows, customs clearance, line-haul routes and 3PL capacity.
  • Evaluate shipment performance, cost drivers, service exceptions and financial scenarios to guide investment and process changes.
  • Manage strategic partners and establish clear performance expectations, governance routines and escalation paths.
  • Work with regional teams, finance, technology, compliance and commercial partners to remove cross-market bottlenecks.
  • Use data and appropriate technology to improve supply-chain transparency, planning, risk control and operational efficiency.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bring substantial experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, customs operations or global supply-chain management.
  • Understand how international transport networks and third-party logistics ecosystems operate across multiple markets.
  • Demonstrate financial modelling, analytical reporting and executive-level problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to influence distributed teams, manage risk and turn complex findings into practical strategic initiatives.

Skills and Competencies

  • Global network design, vendor governance, data analysis, process improvement, risk management and senior stakeholder communication.
  • Commercial judgement, structured problem-solving, negotiation, adaptability and leadership.

Employment Details

The position requires sound judgement across different markets, reliable governance and consistent follow-up on issues that cross organisational boundaries. A successful leader will standardise what can be standardised while respecting local requirements. The precise country portfolio, travel expectations, compliance accountabilities and package should be confirmed during recruitment.

Accurate handovers, timely escalation and complete operating records are important when several teams share responsibility for a service outcome. The role holder should keep stakeholders informed and follow actions through to closure.
