Description

The General Practitioner delivers accessible primary care to patients seeking advice about common illnesses, minor injuries and general health concerns. Through virtual consultations, the doctor gathers clinical information, explains available options and supports safe decisions, while arranging face-to-face review or specialist assessment whenever remote care is not sufficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review patient symptoms, medical history, medicines and relevant risk factors during virtual appointments.
  • Assess and manage suitable common conditions, provide initial treatment advice and explain expected recovery or warning signs.
  • Prescribe or recommend medicines only when clinically appropriate and within professional authority.
  • Provide practical guidance on prevention, lifestyle changes, medication use and follow-up care.
  • Identify emergency symptoms, safeguarding concerns or diagnostic limitations and direct patients to appropriate in-person services.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and safeguard patient information during all stages of consultation.
  • Work with clinical colleagues and follow procedures for referrals, quality review and ongoing care.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Applicants need an accredited medical degree and current or eligible UAE General Practitioner licensing.
  • Relevant experience in general medicine, family practice or primary care is expected.
  • Knowledge of clinical assessment, differential diagnosis and responsible prescribing is important.
  • Experience using telehealth platforms and electronic medical records is beneficial.
  • Candidates must follow applicable patient-safety, privacy and continuing professional development requirements.

Skills and Professional Expectations

  • Clear, reassuring communication with patients from varied backgrounds.
  • Strong clinical triage, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Accurate documentation and respect for confidentiality.
  • A patient-centred approach with appropriate escalation when remote treatment is not safe.

The successful candidate should maintain accurate records, communicate clearly and follow relevant safety, confidentiality, quality and professional standards. Teamwork, sound judgement and timely escalation of concerns are important.
