Gastroenterologist

This position contributes to specialist medical care through professional judgement and collaboration. The successful candidate will deliver agreed objectives, maintain accurate records and support consistent, high-quality outcomes within the department’s priorities and approved scope.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate and manage patients with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and liver disorders. Take detailed histories, perform examinations, interpret laboratory and imaging results, and determine appropriate diagnostic investigations and treatment plans. Undertake endoscopic procedures within approved privileges, explain findings and options to patients, coordinate referrals and follow-up, and collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, nurses and other specialists. Maintain accurate records, follow infection-prevention and clinical-governance standards, and participate in quality improvement and continuing professional development.

Requirements and Qualifications

A recognized medical degree and postgraduate qualification in gastroenterology are required, along with an appropriate current licence or eligibility for the relevant UAE health-authority category. Candidates should have clinical experience commensurate with the advertised designation and demonstrated competence in relevant diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Patient-centred communication, sound clinical judgement, ethical practice and effective multidisciplinary collaboration are essential.
