Description
The Site Engineer – Ports / Marine supports construction activities on port and marine infrastructure projects. The position coordinates daily site work, checks progress and workmanship, and helps ensure that construction follows approved drawings, method statements and project specifications. The engineer works with supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives to support safe and efficient delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise assigned marine or port construction activities and coordinate daily work fronts.
- Monitor piling, quay-wall, jetty, dredging, reclamation or related activities as applicable to the project.
- Review drawings and method statements and clarify technical requirements with the engineering team.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, materials and subcontractor activities at site.
- Raise inspection requests, maintain site records and report progress or constraints.
- Check quality and safety compliance and follow up technical or construction issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A civil engineering or related construction qualification is suitable for the role.
- Site experience in marine, port, coastal or heavy civil construction is beneficial.
- The candidate should be able to interpret drawings, specifications and method statements.
- Knowledge of site safety, quality control and construction documentation is important.
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills are required.
Skills and Competencies
The role requires practical site engineering, work planning and contractor coordination. Familiarity with marine construction methods and the challenges of working near water is useful. The engineer should be organised, safety-conscious and able to produce timely reports while working with multidisciplinary site teams.
