Field Operator

Emirates Global Aluminium is recruiting a Field Operator to help maintain safe and continuous operation of power-generation and utility equipment. The role covers assigned gas and steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, potline rectifiers and related plant systems. The operator carries out inspections and routine operating activities in the field, following instructions from the shift supervisor or main control room operator and ensuring that plant conditions remain within approved operating limits.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate equipment within the assigned area safely and efficiently, following instructions and established plant procedures.
• Take routine operating readings, maintain accurate records and report abnormal readings or changes in equipment condition.
• Inform the supervisor or control room promptly about equipment faults, unusual conditions and operational problems.
• Check that standby equipment is available and ready for service when an emergency or change in operating conditions occurs.
• Assist with routine testing and recommissioning of plant equipment after maintenance outages.
• Identify workplace and equipment hazards and participate in the site hazard-reporting process.
• Follow emergency procedures relevant to the assigned plant area and maintain good housekeeping standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

A Higher Secondary School Certificate is required. Applicants should have four years of experience in a power station and two years of experience as a Desalination Operator at PG7 level, or equivalent experience gained in a similar industry. Candidates should have achieved the required operational competencies for the assigned areas, with the exception of DCR operation.

Skills and Competencies

• English-language ability sufficient to prepare and complete shift reports, at approximately Intermediate 3 or an equivalent level.
• Basic numeracy, including percentages, concentrations, unit conversions and rate calculations.
• Ability to understand single-line diagrams and use basic IT tools.
• Good problem-solving, planning, organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• A cooperative approach to teamwork and a strong commitment to personal and plant safety.
