Engineering Lead

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Design Manager – Solar PV Systems to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and oversee end-to-end design execution across commercial, industrial, and residential solar projects (rooftop, carport, and ground-mounted). This role demands a deep understanding of solar technology, exceptional leadership skills, and experience collaborating across departments to deliver innovative and compliant energy solutions.

👷‍♂️ Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and mentor design engineers, structural engineers, CAD drafters, site engineers, and document controllers
• Cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning
• Identify skill gaps and implement training programs for team development
• Report performance metrics, team efficiency, and opportunities for improvement to senior leadership
• Facilitate collaboration across engineering, operations, and business functions

2. Engineering & Design Management

• Manage full-cycle design of solar PV systems: feasibility studies, conceptual layout, detailed engineering, and validation
• Develop accurate BOM/BOQ based on site conditions and design requirements
• Oversee solar resource modeling using PVsyst and related tools for energy yield analysis
• Review electrical, civil, and structural designs for compliance, optimization, and bankability
• Interface with OEMs for customized solutions and evaluate technologies
• Maintain deliverable standards in alignment with DEWA and regulatory authorities
• Lead equipment evaluation—technical comparisons, warranties, and spec analysis
• Prepare IFC drawings and coordinate reline/as-built validations
• Analyze operational performance data from existing projects and recommend improvements
• Lead creation of technical proposals and bid documentation

3. Projects & Construction Management

• Support project managers in coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams
• Maintain clear communication with clients to ensure alignment on deliverables

4. Business Development & Strategic Growth

• Partner with BD teams on technical proposals, pitches, and feasibility reports
• Represent the company at industry events and technical forums
• Drive workflow optimization through automation and improved design-to-execution processes
• Contribute to marketing content—case studies, presentations, and white papers
• Build strategic relationships with clients, consultants, and industry stakeholders

📋 Required Qualifications & Skills

• DEWA certification as a Senior Solar PV Expert
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• Proven experience in senior solar PV design or managerial role (e.g. Design Manager)
• Expertise in AutoCAD, SketchUp, PVsyst, Helioscope, SolarEdge Designer, HOMER
• Familiarity with DEWA codes and local regulatory requirements for EPC and O&M
• Proficient in MS Project, Primavera, or other CRM/project management platforms
• Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills
