Description
The Category Manager coordinates sourcing and purchasing activity for assigned materials or services. The role balances operational needs, project schedules, supplier performance, budget control and compliance with procurement procedures. Clear planning and collaboration with site, stores and operations teams help ensure the right items or services are available when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan material and service requirements against project milestones, operational priorities and lead times.
- Coordinate with operations, stores and site teams to track mobilization needs and resolve supply issues.
- Monitor budget use, purchase orders, open orders, pending requests and reported savings.
- Review supplier and subcontractor performance for cost, quality, competence, consistency and compliance.
- Prepare clear reports and escalate delivery, documentation or supplier risks before they affect operations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates should have procurement or supply-chain experience relevant to the category and be comfortable coordinating multiple stakeholders. Planning, commercial awareness, data handling and reliable follow-through are important. Role-specific experience should align with the materials, services or projects assigned.
