Description
NOV is hiring a Design Specialist – Storage Solutions in Dubai to lead and perform drafting and design activities for storage tanks, vessels, piping spools, accessories and related fabricated products. The position converts engineering requirements, customer specifications, calculations and manufacturing constraints into accurate, practical and manufacturable 2D drawings and 3D models. It also includes coordinating drafters, checking drawings and bills of material, controlling revisions and supporting manufacturing and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop complex 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for tanks, vessels, piping and fabricated equipment.
- Translate engineering inputs and customer requirements into accurate manufacturing documentation.
- Coordinate drafting activities and allocate tasks to drafters and junior designers.
- Check and approve drawings, models and bills of material for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate design interfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, QA/QC, Procurement, Sales and Project Management.
- Participate in design, constructability and manufacturability reviews and close comments systematically.
- Maintain drawing registers, design files, templates and revision-controlled databases.
- Support manufacturing and site teams by resolving drawing queries and incorporating approved changes.
- Prepare as-built documentation when required and promote consistent design practices.
- Mentor junior designers and support continuous improvement in drafting quality and productivity.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Drafting or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant mechanical/product drafting and design experience.
- At least 5 years of drawing checking or coordination/lead experience.
- Hands-on AutoCAD 2D drafting is mandatory.
- Hands-on 3D CAD experience using AutoCAD 3D, Inventor, SolidWorks or equivalent.
