Costing Manager

Provides financial and operational insight into the cost and profitability of healthcare services. The Costing Manager develops costing models, reviews direct and indirect expenses and helps leaders understand how service lines, departments, procedures and payer arrangements affect financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead costing analysis for services, departments, products and procedures, using appropriate costing methods.
• Develop cost models at service, procedure or patient level and document assumptions and data sources.
• Analyse cost drivers and track cost per patient, physician, department, specialty or facility.
• Compare payer tariffs and self-pay rates with the cost of delivering services.
• Prepare profitability dashboards, management reports and performance indicators.
• Support feasibility studies, business cases and scenario analysis for services or pricing decisions.
• Work with stakeholders to validate data, explain variances and identify improvement opportunities.

Requirements and Qualifications

A degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or a related field is relevant, supported by practical experience in costing, financial analysis or management reporting. Healthcare and revenue-cycle knowledge, activity-based costing and business intelligence tools are useful. Strong numerical and communication skills are important.
