Description
Qatar Airways is recruiting a Lead Technical Officer – Horticulture to help maintain indoor plants, the airport orchard and outdoor landscape areas at Hamad International Airport. The role monitors plant health, irrigation, contractor performance and maintenance standards, supporting a clean and attractive airport environment consistent with the airport’s presentation expectations.
Engineering decisions must follow approved documentation and licence authority. Clear records, safe task execution and early communication of technical risks help maintain airworthiness, quality and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect indoor plants, orchard areas and landscapes for defects, nutrient deficiencies, pests, diseases and toxicity.
- Recommend plant-care remedies and appropriate products or techniques to maintain plant health.
- Assess soil and plant conditions, fertilisation effectiveness and irrigation performance.
- Carry out or coordinate horticultural tests and inspections and maintain quality-assurance records.
- Monitor contractors and ensure work orders meet project specifications, service levels and airport standards.
- Report landscape status, identify resource needs and recommend improvements to maintenance practices.
Requirements
- High-school, vocational or diploma qualification with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years.
- Landscape maintenance experience is essential; horticulture-related education and indoor-plant maintenance are preferred.
- Experience conducting landscape audits and working with contractors is useful.
- Technical writing, English communication, audit skills and safety awareness are required.
