Lead Finance Officer – Tax Strategy & Planning

Qatar Airways is seeking a Lead Finance Officer for Tax Strategy and Planning in Doha. The role supports tax planning and compliance across the countries where the airline operates. It focuses on reducing tax risk, coordinating direct and indirect tax obligations, monitoring relevant tax treaties, ensuring timely filings and payments, and protecting confidential financial information.

Financial work must be accurate, documented and aligned with approved controls. Confidentiality, timely investigation of exceptions and effective use of financial systems support reliable delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate tax compliance activities with internal departments and external advisers at international stations.
• Monitor direct and indirect tax obligations and support the timely submission of returns, declarations and other required filings.
• Track tax liabilities and payment deadlines to help prevent penalties and compliance gaps.
• Review relevant tax developments and treaties and highlight potential impacts on airline operations.
• Maintain accurate tax records, supporting documents and confidential financial data.
• Assist with tax planning, internal reporting and process improvements across assigned countries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, commerce, finance or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of job-related experience, including direct and indirect tax exposure.
• Experience in a Big Four firm or a large corporate organisation with international tax exposure is relevant.
• User-level experience with an ERP system is required; sound judgment and confidentiality are important.
