Assistant/ Full Professor – Robotics

This position contributes to robotics research and education through professional judgement and collaboration. The successful candidate will deliver agreed objectives, maintain accurate records and support consistent, high-quality outcomes within the department’s priorities and approved scope.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a research programme in robotics and related areas, publish findings in reputable venues, pursue external funding and establish collaborations with academic, industrial and government partners. Teach robotics and supporting engineering courses, design practical learning activities, supervise undergraduate and graduate projects, and mentor research students. Contribute to laboratory development, curriculum innovation, departmental service and interdisciplinary initiatives. Research may involve robot perception, planning, control, autonomy, manipulation, human-robot interaction or intelligent robotic systems, depending on expertise and institutional needs.

Requirements and Qualifications

A PhD in robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering, computer science or a closely related discipline is expected. Applicants should demonstrate expertise relevant to robotics and a research record suited to the academic rank sought. Professor-level candidates are generally expected to show substantial scholarly leadership, funded research and graduate supervision. Teaching ability, collaboration, technical communication and a commitment to safe laboratory practice are important.
