Description
Provide legal support for ship acquisitions and marine transportation associated with the commercialization of LNG, crude oil and other petroleum products, petrochemicals, chemicals and fertilizers. The role supports the negotiation and administration of shipping agreements, vessel financing matters and claims or disputes arising from shipping activities.
The role requires collaboration across relevant teams, accurate documentation and early escalation of risks that may affect safety, quality or delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate vessel purchase and sale, shipbuilding, chartering and freight-related agreements.
- Advise on acquisition or disposal of shipping capacity, vessel financing and associated marine services.
- Support administration of agreements, including price or charter-rate reviews and contractual change matters.
- Assess claims and disputes and coordinate practical legal responses with commercial stakeholders.
- Work with LNG marketing, trading and marketing teams to manage shipping-related legal requirements.
Requirements and Experience
- At least ten years of legal experience in private practice or in-house, with substantial exposure to shipping activities, is required.
- Strong legal drafting skills and experience dealing with regulators or government representatives are important.
- Candidates must be able to explain complex legal matters in practical terms to non-lawyers.
Qualifications
