Post Doctoral Fellow

Job Overview

Khalifa University is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow for a funded research project examining the geological and geochemical history of polar regions and the evolution of Earth's early continental crust. The project uses radiogenic and non-traditional stable isotope systems to investigate Archean tonalite–trondhjemite–granodiorite rocks and related materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct independent research with limited supervision.
• Perform and interpret geochemical analyses of Archean zircons.
• Work with U–Pb geochronology and Hf–O isotope analyses.
• Conduct and interpret whole-rock non-traditional stable-isotope analyses involving systems such as K, Zn, Fe, Cu and Ca.
• Investigate isotope distributions and behaviour in Archean TTG samples.
• Develop analytical approaches and techniques for understanding early Earth crustal evolution.
• Prepare manuscripts and conference contributions for high-quality research outlets.
• Collaborate with researchers and graduate students using university analytical facilities.

Requirements

• PhD in an appropriate Earth Science, Geochemistry, Geology or closely related discipline.
• Research expertise relevant to isotope geochemistry, geochronology or early Earth geology.
• Ability to independently conduct and interpret advanced analytical research.
• Evidence of peer-reviewed research output; the vacancy specifies publication expectations for early and experienced postdoctoral hires.
• Strong scientific writing, presentation and collaboration skills.
• Ability to comply with research, information-security and confidentiality requirements.
