Description
The Operator - Finishing Machine sets up and runs finishing equipment used in commercial print and packaging production. Work can involve binding, folding, sewing, gathering, cutting, die-cutting, foiling, embossing, folder-gluing and bag fabrication. The operator checks that each job matches its specifications and maintains consistent output through safe machine operation, routine cleaning and prompt fault reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and configure finishing equipment, including perfect binders, saddle stitchers, folding, sewing, gathering and cutting machines, according to job instructions.
- Prepare automatic die-cutting, foiling, embossing, folder-gluing and bag-fabrication equipment for the required material and product specification.
- Monitor binding strength, stitching accuracy, fold precision and cutting alignment while production is running.
- Conduct visual and manual checks, separate defective products and report misfeeds or mechanical problems to the foreman or maintenance team.
- Clean equipment routinely and follow preventive-maintenance schedules and machine-safety procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates should be comfortable following production job specifications and operating finishing machinery safely. Practical experience with print-finishing or packaging equipment is valuable. The role requires attention to product quality, willingness to complete repetitive checks and the ability to report faults rather than bypassing safeguards. No particular academic qualification or minimum number of years is added unless confirmed for the applicant’s specific role.
