Nurse Patient Care Coordinator – Gastroenterology Clinic

American Hospital Dubai is seeking a Nurse Patient Care Coordinator for its Gastroenterology Clinic. The role coordinates outpatient care from assessment and appointment planning through treatment support and follow-up. The nurse will provide direct patient care, educate patients and families, collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and help maintain continuity, safety and quality throughout the patient journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and coordinate appointments, treatment activities and follow-up care.
• Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, vital-sign monitoring and assistance with treatments.
• Educate patients and families about care plans, treatment requirements, symptoms and follow-up instructions.
• Monitor symptoms such as pain, nausea and fatigue and communicate concerns to the appropriate clinical team.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to achieve coordinated patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and follow infection-control, pain-management and documentation standards.
• Participate in quality improvement, departmental goal setting and professional development activities.
• Support clinic orientation and provide patients and relatives with relevant information about clinic services.
• Perform additional responsibilities assigned within the nursing scope of practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a minimum three-year full-time course duration or an accepted equivalent pathway.
• Valid professional license/registration in the home country or applicable country of employment.
• Valid BLS or ACLS certification.
• Postgraduate qualification in Nurse Management or an advanced clinical specialty is preferred.
• Minimum five years of recent post-graduate experience in the related specialty.
• Strong patient assessment, care coordination and communication skills.
