Description
The Material Engineer supports infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain by ensuring that construction materials meet project specifications, municipal standards and quality requirements. The role reviews submissions, coordinates testing and inspections, and maintains records so that materials used on site are suitable and approved for the intended work.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate and approve construction materials for infrastructure project use.
- Prepare material approval requests, technical submittals and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors on specifications and approvals.
- Monitor material testing and check compliance with project and Abu Dhabi Municipality requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and confirm that delivered materials match approved submissions.
- Maintain approval records, test reports and quality documents and help resolve material-related issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Have at least 8 years of experience as a Material Engineer on UAE infrastructure projects.
- Have previous experience on Abu Dhabi Municipality or Al Ain Municipality infrastructure projects; this is mandatory.
- Understand construction materials, specifications, quality control and municipal approval processes.
- Be able to manage multiple priorities and communicate with consultants, authorities and suppliers.
Skills and Competencies
The position requires material evaluation, technical submittal preparation, quality assurance and careful document control. The engineer should understand roads, utilities, drainage, landscaping and other infrastructure materials. Strong coordination and independent working skills are important, especially when managing approvals across multiple stakeholders.
