Junior Buyer

The Junior Buyer supports purchasing activities that help maintain product availability, competitive pricing and reliable supplier relationships. The role involves collecting commercial information, tracking purchase orders, updating product and vendor records and coordinating with internal teams. Strong organisation and attention to detail are important because buying decisions affect stock coverage, customer choice, margin and the efficiency of daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with purchase-order preparation, order tracking and follow-up on delivery dates or outstanding supplier confirmations.
• Gather pricing, product, availability and lead-time information to support buying decisions and category plans.
• Maintain accurate item, vendor and purchasing records in internal systems and spreadsheets.
• Coordinate with merchandising, warehouse, finance and suppliers to resolve discrepancies or delivery issues.
• Prepare routine reports on open orders, stock concerns and supplier performance for review by the buying team.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Have a relevant degree, diploma or practical understanding of purchasing, retail, procurement or supply-chain operations.
• Be comfortable working with spreadsheets and handling detailed product, quantity, price and date information.
• Demonstrate reliable follow-up, a customer-focused mindset and the ability to prioritise several tasks.
• Communicate professionally with suppliers and colleagues and escalate commercial or delivery risks promptly.

Skills and Competencies
