Description
The Head of Sustainable Finance supports the origination, structuring and execution of sustainable-finance solutions across Wholesale Banking. The role works with corporate and financial-institution clients on financing energy transition, decarbonisation and wider sustainability strategies. It also supports the bank’s sustainable-finance targets and climate commitments by developing market opportunities, advising clients and coordinating sustainable-finance solutions across the relevant banking teams. The position requires a commercially practical understanding of how clients can finance sustainability plans and how banks can structure suitable solutions. It brings together relationship development, product knowledge and disciplined transaction execution while supporting broader climate and sustainability commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate sustainable-finance and transition-finance opportunities with corporate, sovereign and financial-institution clients.
- Develop go-to-market plans and maintain an origination pipeline for sustainable and transition finance.
- Structure and execute green loans, sustainability-linked loans, green bonds and sustainability bonds.
- Identify financing opportunities connected with decarbonisation, climate action and the energy transition.
- Advise clients on sustainability strategies, transition pathways and appropriate financing frameworks.
- Support the development of frameworks aligned with recognised ICMA and LMA principles.
- Coordinate with relationship, product, risk and other stakeholders to move transactions through approval and execution.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong knowledge of transition finance, including climate and nature-related considerations, is important.
- Experience developing go-to-market approaches for sustainable finance within wholesale banking is required.
