Description
The Control Field Service Engineer supports installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems used with turbomachinery and related industrial equipment. The role combines control-panel checks, field wiring review, auxiliary-system verification, and customer coordination. It requires a practical approach to technical instructions and a consistent focus on safe execution, quality, equipment reliability, and customer schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise or support installation and wiring of unit control panels, auxiliary panels, protection panels, motor-control centres, and associated equipment.
- Check control sequences and the operation of auxiliary systems such as lubrication, hydraulic circuits, ventilation, and fire-and-gas detection.
- Support commissioning, start-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas-turbine and turbomachinery control products at customer sites.
- Interpret drawings, engineering instructions, process procedures, and test results to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Coordinate field activities with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams to meet agreed schedules and technical requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks, identify job hazards, and follow site health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Prepare accurate service reports, record findings, and communicate outstanding actions or equipment risks to the relevant team.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, control systems, instrumentation, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Practical familiarity with control panels, wiring, commissioning, industrial equipment, or turbomachinery is important.
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow controlled testing and maintenance procedures.
- Willingness to work at customer sites and follow travel, shift, and site-access requirements where applicable.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, quality, and accurate service documentation.
