Description
The Commis III position supports chefs with everyday food preparation and kitchen tasks in a busy catering operation. The role helps ensure ingredients are prepared correctly, work areas stay clean and food is handled according to instructions and hygiene standards. It is suited to a kitchen team member who is ready to develop practical culinary skills while contributing to consistent, timely production. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assist with basic cooking tasks according to instructions, recipes and production requirements.
- Wash, peel, cut, portion and organise food items using the correct tools and safe handling methods.
- Follow food safety procedures, including appropriate storage, date labelling and prevention of cross-contamination.
- Keep workstations, utensils and kitchen equipment clean and ready for use throughout the shift.
- Support chefs with mise en place, replenishment and orderly movement of ingredients during production.
- Check preparation tasks against instructions and promptly report shortages, quality concerns or equipment problems.
- Work cooperatively with chefs and colleagues to meet production schedules and maintain consistent standards.
Requirements
- A genuine interest in kitchen work and willingness to learn standard food preparation methods.
- Careful attention to hygiene, cleanliness, food handling and instructions from chefs.
- Ability to work as part of a team and remain organised during busy periods.
- Dependability, physical readiness for practical kitchen duties and willingness to follow safety procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic culinary training or relevant kitchen experience is useful but no specific minimum education level was confirmed.
- A food hygiene certificate, where held, can support an application.
