Audio & Video Technician

Shangri-La Group is seeking an Audio & Video Technician to support the smooth delivery of meetings, conferences, banquets, weddings and special events at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi. The position is responsible for setting up, operating, testing and maintaining audio-visual systems so guests, event organizers and hotel teams receive dependable technical support throughout each event.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Engineering and hotel operations teams, prepare equipment before functions, respond quickly to technical issues and help maintain an organized inventory of AV equipment and accessories. The role requires practical technical ability, attention to detail, service orientation and flexibility to support changing event requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and dismantle audio-visual equipment for meetings, conferences, banquets, weddings and special events.
• Operate and troubleshoot projectors, LED displays, microphones, speakers, mixers, lighting equipment, video-conferencing systems and presentation technology.
• Complete equipment checks and sound and video tests before events and confirm systems are ready for use.
• Provide on-site technical assistance to guests, event organizers and hotel departments during functions.
• Diagnose faults and coordinate repairs or replacement of equipment when required.
• Maintain cables, accessories, equipment storage areas and technical workspaces in clean and operational condition.
• Support the team in maintaining reliable AV standards and minimizing event disruptions.
• Follow hotel safety procedures and technical operating standards at all times.

Requirements

• Diploma or technical qualification in Audio Visual Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience supporting AV systems in hotels, events, conferences or similar environments is advantageous.
• Practical knowledge of sound, video, lighting and presentation equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and special events according to operational requirements.
• Professional, reliable and detail-oriented approach to technical service.
