Assistant Operator – Finishing Machine

The Assistant Operator - Finishing Machine supports setup and operation of print-finishing equipment and helps the production operator maintain an orderly, efficient run. The work may include binding, stitching, folding, sewing, gathering, cutting, die-cutting, foiling, embossing, folder-gluing and bag fabrication. Careful preparation, regular checks and safe material handling support finished-product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and assist with setup of perfect binders, saddle stitchers, folding, sewing, gathering and cutting equipment.
• Help configure die-cutting, foiling, embossing, folder-gluing and bag-fabrication machines to match the job and material type.
• Monitor output for binding strength, stitch accuracy, folds and cutting alignment, reporting defects to the operator.
• Assist with visual and manual quality checks and alert the foreman to misfeeds or mechanical concerns.
• Perform routine cleaning, return tools and materials to their places and follow preventive-maintenance and safety instructions.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates should be willing to learn finishing operations, follow job instructions and handle production materials carefully. Exposure to printing, binding or packaging machinery is useful. Work must remain within the employee’s training and the direction of the responsible operator.
