Position Title: Business Automation Developer

Department: Digital Advancement, Transformation & AI (DATA)

JOB PURPOSE:

The Business Automation Developer plays a key role in advancing the university’s digitalization and automation efforts. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing automated solutions using low-code/no-code platforms to improve operational efficiency, minimize manual processes, and boost productivity across departments. The developer ensures quick turnaround in application delivery, provides ongoing platform support, and collaborates closely with stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable, maintainable solution.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development and Support

  • Design, develop, and implement automated solutions using platforms such as Bubble.IO, SharePoint, N8N, API/integration management tools, and BI platforms to streamline university processes.
  • Provide timely support and ensure quick turnaround for departments across the institution.

User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design

  • Create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for all solutions. Conduct user testing, gather feedback, and iterate on designs to enhance usability, increase productivity, and meet end-user needs.
  • Exploration of Low-Code/No-Code Platforms
  • Continuously research and evaluate new tools and low-code/no-code platforms beyond Bubble.IO and SharePoint to broaden automation capabilities and support the university’s digital transformation initiatives.

Data Integration, AI-Driven Insights, and Management

  • Ensure seamless integration of solutions with existing data sources, maintaining data integrity, security, and compliance. Leverage AI to drive data insights, enabling informed decision-making and automating analytical tasks.

Integration of AI and AI Agents

  • Explore and implement AI technologies and intelligent agents within automation frameworks to enhance efficiency.
  • Focus on automating complex tasks, delivering predictive insights, and supporting strategic digitalization goals across the university and the broader Group.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Training

  • Engage with departments to assess needs, identify automation opportunities, and prioritize initiatives.
  • Provide training and support to promote adoption and effective utilization of developed solutions.

Documentation, Reporting, and Project Management

  • Maintain thorough documentation, including workflows, user guides, and technical specifications.
  • Generate performance reports and manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.

System Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor system performance, resolve technical issues promptly, and implement improvements.
  • Remain up to date with emerging industry trends to continuously enhance solutions in alignment with the university’s evolving needs.

Minimum Educational Qualifications Required for the Role

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or Computer Science or Equivalent

Minimum Years of Experience Required

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in software development, with a focus on designing, building, and integrating applications using low-code/no-code platforms such as Bubble.io, SharePoint, or comparable tools.

Nature of Relevant Experience Required:

Familiarity with Various Low-Code/No-Code Platforms

  • Comprehensive knowledge of a range of low-code/no-code platforms such as Bubble.io, Out Systems, Mendix, Appian, Microsoft Power Apps, and Quick Base. Ability to evaluate and select the most suitable platform based on project requirements and effectively integrate it into the existing IT ecosystem.

Experience with Low-Code/No-Code Development Tools

  • Proficiency in utilizing platform-specific tools, including drag-and-drop interfaces, visual modelling, and workflow automation components. Familiarity with platform capabilities and constraints to maximize performance and functionality of applications.

Programming Skills

  • Strong coding experience in languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or other relevant programming languages. Capable of extending or customizing low-code/no-code applications as needed to meet complex functional requirements.

Data Integration and Management

  • Expertise in integrating applications with internal and external data sources using APIs, web services, and other integration methods. Proficiency with API and integration management tools such as N8N, Boomi, MuleSoft, or equivalent platforms to ensure seamless interoperability and secure data flow.

AI and Machine Learning Integration

  • Hands-on experience incorporating AI and machine learning into applications to automate data analysis, generate predictive insights, and enhance decision-making. Familiarity with AI tools, frameworks, and large language models (LLMs) for intelligent automation.

Database Management

  • Technical proficiency in designing, managing, and querying both SQL and NoSQL databases. Ability to maintain efficient data structures while ensuring data security and integrity.

User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design

  • Skill in designing intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces. Experience with design tools and frameworks to develop user-centered applications that enhance usability and engagement.

System Architecture, Deployment, and Collaboration

  • Solid understanding of system architecture and experience deploying applications in both cloud and on-premises environments. Capable of configuring, maintaining, and optimizing application servers. Familiar with version control systems such as Git and collaboration/project management tools like JIRA or Trello to support effective teamwork.

Language - Skills

  • English is required
  • Arabic is preferred, but not a requirement.
