Description
The quality assurance manager leads food-safety and quality systems for seafood production, protecting product integrity from raw-material receipt through processing, storage and dispatch. The role directs audits, laboratory and process controls, investigation of defects and improvement plans in a product environment with specific freshness and temperature requirements. This position is part of seafood quality assurance and food safety leadership and contributes to reliable, professional day-to-day delivery. The successful candidate will follow established procedures, maintain accurate information and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve agreed standards.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include the following:
- Lead seafood quality plans, inspection programmes, product release controls and food-safety documentation.
- Maintain HACCP-based controls, traceability, hygiene and temperature-management requirements across operations.
- Manage audits, customer complaints, non-conformities, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Coordinate with laboratories, production, procurement and logistics on raw materials and finished-product quality.
- Coach quality teams and report performance, risks and improvement progress to site leadership.
A practical understanding of the function, sound prioritisation and timely escalation will help protect quality, safety, cost and customer commitments.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A degree in food science, food technology, microbiology or a related discipline is relevant.
- Lead-auditor capability and knowledge of HACCP are important.
- Eight or more years of food-manufacturing quality experience is a useful benchmark, with seafood experience essential for this role.
- Candidates should be confident leading audits, managing teams and maintaining regulatory-quality records.
Candidates should show relevant experience, learn local procedures quickly and meet any required statutory or professional standards.
Skills and Competencies
