The Junior Sous Chef position is designed for a team member who can contribute reliably to the hotel’s daily operation. The Junior Sous Chef supports the senior kitchen leadership with daily food production, team coordination and quality control. The role helps keep service organised, ensures recipes and safety procedures are followed and assists in developing the skills of kitchen colleagues. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Sous Chef with planning and coordinating food preparation across assigned kitchen areas.
- Monitor mise en place, cooking progress and plate presentation to maintain service consistency.
- Assist with staff allocation, shift handovers and guidance for junior cooks during busy periods.
- Check ingredient quality, storage, labelling and rotation, raising stock or equipment issues promptly.
- Help maintain food safety, sanitation and temperature-control procedures throughout the kitchen.
- Review preparation needs with the culinary team and support accurate portioning and waste control.
- Contribute practical ideas to improve kitchen workflow while protecting menu standards and guest satisfaction.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Professional kitchen experience and strong cooking fundamentals are relevant to this role.
- Knowledge of food safety, kitchen hygiene and stock rotation is important.
- Candidates should be organised, dependable and able to support team members during service.
- Clear communication and a willingness to learn from senior culinary leaders are expected.
