The SCADA / EMS Solution Architect designs and guides operational technology solutions for utility or energy environments in Abu Dhabi. The role translates operational needs into system architecture, integration requirements and technical specifications. It supports reliable monitoring and control of critical infrastructure while considering performance, security, resilience and long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop solution architecture for SCADA, Energy Management Systems and related operational technology platforms.
- Gather operational, technical and integration requirements from utility stakeholders and system users.
- Define system interfaces, data flows, communications and integration with existing control-centre platforms.
- Prepare architecture documents, technical specifications and design recommendations for project teams.
- Review vendor solutions and technical proposals for compatibility, scalability and operational fit.
- Support implementation planning, testing, commissioning and resolution of system architecture issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A degree in Electrical, Control, Computer or related engineering is appropriate for this role.
- Relevant experience in SCADA, EMS or utility operational technology is expected.
- Knowledge of control systems, integration architecture, communications and critical infrastructure is valuable.
- Awareness of OT cybersecurity, system availability and operational resilience is important.
- Strong analytical, documentation and stakeholder communication skills are required.
Skills and Competencies
The architect should combine systems thinking with practical knowledge of operational environments. Requirements analysis, integration design, vendor evaluation and clear technical documentation are central skills. The role also needs the ability to explain complex architecture decisions to engineers, operators and project leaders.
