Job Summary
Seeking a highly experienced Lead Structural Engineer with a strong background in floating offshore structures, specifically FSOs and FPSOs. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in structural analysis, project leadership on major EPC projects, and a deep understanding of industry codes and practices. This role demands technical excellence across all project phases—from concept to detailed engineering—and the ability to lead and deliver complex offshore engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering efforts for FSO/FPSO projects, overseeing local and global strength assessments, fatigue analysis, and structural design verification.
- Perform hands-on structural analyses and ensure technical soundness in line with project and classification society requirements.
- Serve as Lead Structural Engineer on a minimum of two full-cycle FSO/FPSO projects, each spanning at least 12 months.
- Deliver engineering outputs during Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC phases, ensuring alignment with project timelines, quality, and safety standards.
- Interpret and apply class rules and regulations from major classification societies (e.g., ABS, DNV, BV) relevant to hull structure design and analysis.
- Review and validate structural drawings, reports, procedures, and specifications, ensuring compliance with project and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to support integrated design and execution efforts for hull and topside interface systems.
- Utilize industry-standard structural analysis tools for hull design and evaluation.
- Prepare and review project documentation, including design calculations, method statements, material specifications, and construction drawings.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in Structural Engineering: Strong understanding of hull structural behavior, fatigue, global and local strength calculations specific to floating offshore structures.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using structural analysis software and modeling tools specific to the offshore industry (e.g., SACS, SESAM, ANSYS, etc.).
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead structural teams on major offshore projects.
- Knowledge of Codes & Standards: Deep familiarity with applicable classification society rules, offshore structural codes, and international regulations.
- Engineering Documentation: Proficient in developing and reviewing detailed engineering documentation related to hull structures.
Education
-
Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding and the offshore oil & gas industry.
- At least 5 years of direct involvement in EPC FPSO projects, including one project in a lead engineering capacity.
- Demonstrated involvement in all project phases: Concept Design, Bidding, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC.
