Lead Mechanical Engineer (O&G, Mechanical Equipment – Static)

NOV is hiring a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Dubai to provide technical leadership and ensure the integrity and quality of mechanical engineering activities for oil and gas projects. The position requires extensive experience with static and mechanical equipment, international design codes, vendor documentation and multidisciplinary engineering interfaces. The engineer will review designs, manage technical resources, support fast-track projects and contribute to standardization and engineering strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for assigned mechanical engineering activities and maintain design integrity.
• Review project design bases, specifications, calculations, layouts, drawings and technical documents.
• Manage resources and technical deliverables to meet project schedules and budget parameters.
• Support fast-track projects and coordinate with clients, consultants and contractors to resolve technical matters.
• Review equipment designs and calculations, including pressure-vessel design and FEA where required.
• Evaluate vendor offers, raise technical queries and perform technical bid evaluations.
• Review post-order vendor documents and participate in supplier tender processes.
• Coordinate with Process, Piping, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
• Prepare deliverable lists, schedules, man-hour estimates, resource plans and progress reports.
• Participate in design and progress reviews and standardize engineering procedures and checklists.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience in upstream/downstream oil and gas.
• Strong static equipment design experience with exposure to rotary equipment.
• Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, TEMA, PD5500 and API standards including API 650, 660, 661 and applicable rotary-equipment standards.
• Experience with PV Elite, Compress, TANK or similar software.
• Strong communication, people management, analytical and coordination capabilities.
