Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician coordinates electrical maintenance activities and helps ensure plant systems remain safe, reliable and available. The role organises daily work for electricians, prepares weekly schedules, supports high-voltage isolation for planned maintenance and coordinates technical information with operations, engineering, stores and external vendors. It requires careful work planning, accurate records and consistent application of site safety and environmental procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily job logs, allocate tasks to electricians, monitor progress and identify work that needs operational coordination.
• Build weekly maintenance schedules for planning meetings and adjust priorities to support plant availability and safe execution.
• Arrange approved isolation of 3.3 kV and 11 kV breakers when requested for preventive maintenance, following authorised procedures.
• Update electrical drawings and technical records when revised information is received, ensuring they reflect plant requirements.
• Review technical bid comparisons, support vendor scope definition and check completed services or upgraded equipment against specifications.
• Prepare maintenance reports, recommend spare-parts replenishment and review minimum/maximum stock levels to improve cost control.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• At least five years of progressive electrical maintenance experience, particularly involving high-voltage systems; oil and gas experience is preferred.
• Practical understanding of maintenance planning, technical documentation, equipment installation and safe isolation processes.
• Ability to interpret technical information, coordinate people and vendors, and maintain accurate operational reports.
