Baker Hughes’ Global Field Service Engineer - Electrical supports customers using large rotating electrical machines and associated control equipment. The work covers installation, commissioning, repair, maintenance, and equipment upgrades, with an emphasis on dependable power-generation and power-network applications. The engineer provides hands-on technical support at customer facilities, works with service colleagues, and helps ensure equipment performs safely and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, commissioning, inspection, repair, maintenance, and upgrade work on large rotating electrical machines.
- Assess machine condition and associated control equipment, identify faults, and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare and complete field-service activities.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers, customer personnel, and service colleagues during troubleshooting and equipment restoration.
- Prepare method statements, risk assessments, work records, and service reports appropriate to the customer site.
- Explain equipment operation and maintenance practices to customer personnel and other field-service colleagues when required.
- Follow site safety rules and quality procedures, including any medical, offshore, or overseas-work requirements applicable to assignments.
Requirements and Qualifications
- An accredited electrical, electronic, controls qualification, or relevant equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of electrical machines, control equipment, and field installation or maintenance practices.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental concepts in industrial or customer-site settings.
- Networking knowledge such as Modbus, Ethernet, IEC 61850, or fibre communications can be advantageous.
- Ability to travel and work independently during field assignments, including overseas work where required.
