Environment, Health & Safety Officer

Shangri-La Group is hiring an Environment, Health & Safety Officer in Abu Dhabi to implement and monitor workplace health, safety and environmental practices across hotel operations. The position supports regulatory compliance, risk reduction and the development of a strong safety culture across departments while helping protect guests, colleagues, contractors and hotel assets.

The role involves conducting inspections and risk assessments, supporting safety training, monitoring corrective actions and maintaining relevant documentation. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with operational teams and translating safety requirements into practical procedures suitable for a busy luxury hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor environmental, health and safety procedures across hotel departments.
• Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and follow-up activities to identify and control hazards.
• Support compliance with Abu Dhabi requirements, UAE labour safety regulations and company standards.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, corrective actions, training and safety documentation.
• Support safety induction, awareness campaigns, emergency preparedness and departmental training programs.
• Investigate or assist with incident reporting and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Work with department heads and operational colleagues to strengthen safety awareness and compliance.
• Promote continuous improvement in occupational health, environmental protection and workplace safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• NEBOSH IGC certification is required.
• First Aid, Fire Safety or Emergency Response certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant EHS/HSE experience, preferably in UAE hospitality, facilities management or corporate environments.
• Knowledge of the ADOSH system framework and UAE safety regulations is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, documentation, inspection and problem-solving skills.
