Job Overview

Khalifa University is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow to develop a mathematical and computational framework for hierarchical optimization in graph-based formulations. The research combines optimization, graph theory, stochastic modelling and artificial intelligence, with applications to large-scale datasets and computational genomics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop scalable algorithms for hierarchical and multi-level optimization problems.
• Design and implement prototype solvers and efficient numerical methods.
• Explore GPU-accelerated and high-performance computing approaches.
• Validate methods using large-scale datasets, particularly in computational genomics.
• Contribute to theoretical development and practical computational experiments.
• Develop or contribute to an open-source scientific software toolbox.
• Prepare high-impact publications and research presentations.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers and contribute to funded research activities.

Requirements

• PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a closely related field.
• Strong background in optimization, graph algorithms, stochastic modelling or machine learning.
• Scientific programming experience in Python, C++ or similar languages.
• Experience with numerical methods and large-scale data analysis.
• Familiarity with high-performance computing or GPU acceleration is desirable.
• Independent research capability and evidence of research output.
• Research experience in hierarchical optimization, graph algorithms, probabilistic modelling or computational statistics is advantageous.
