Description

Provide corporate-level technical leadership for fleet dockings, surveys, upgrades, modifications, breakdowns, major incidents and technical projects across a global maritime portfolio. The role combines engineering expertise with project, procurement, cost and contractor management. The superintendent will coordinate with regional technical teams, yards, OEMs, suppliers, insurers and internal stakeholders to deliver technical work safely, on schedule and within approved budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control fleet-wide docking, special survey, upgrade, modification, breakdown and technical project activities.
  • Prepare detailed repair, docking and project specifications in coordination with regional technical teams.
  • Coordinate yards, OEM engineers, contractors, service providers and support functions during execution.
  • Support technical procurement, insurance matters, P&I claims and technical investigations.
  • Evaluate vendors, repair yards and technical service providers for capability, cost and quality.
  • Prepare project budgets, schedules, tender documents and annual fleet docking plans.
  • Monitor costs and schedules, report deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Support planned preventive maintenance and effective use of the NS5 management system.
  • Maintain accurate project and docking reports and ensure technical information is properly recorded.
  • Provide technical guidance to regional teams and promote consistent engineering standards across the fleet.

Requirements

  • Marine Engineering Class 1 Motor, or a relevant engineering/naval architecture degree or postgraduate engineering qualification.
  • Either significant Chief Engineer experience on offshore support vessels with at least 5 years of shore supervision, or around 10 years as a technical/dry-docking superintendent.
  • Strong knowledge of major class societies, ship technical systems, CAD and planned maintenance platforms such as AMOS or NS5.
  • Proven experience with dockings, repairs, procurement, budgets and contractor management.
  • Excellent technical judgement, communication, reporting and project-control skills.
