Senior QS Engineer

The Senior QS Engineer will support commercial and cost management activities for fit-out, joinery, repair, and maintenance projects. The role covers tender preparation, contract review, cost estimates, variation assessment, and budget monitoring from pre-contract through post-contract stages. The successful candidate will help the project team understand financial exposure, compare supplier and contractor offers, and keep project costs aligned with approved budgets and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, contract conditions, drawings, and bills of quantities with project stakeholders, clients, and design teams.
• Prepare preliminary and detailed cost estimates, analyse tender submissions, and support technical and commercial evaluations before award.
• Assess repair, maintenance, fit-out, and joinery costs while identifying value-management options and potential financial risks.
• Monitor budgets, reconcile costs, evaluate variations, and prepare supporting documentation for claims and post-contract changes.
• Coordinate letters of intent, contract agreements, post-tender clarifications, periodic reports, and follow-up on outstanding commercial matters.

Requirements

• Practical fit-out or joinery project experience is essential for understanding scopes, quantities, finishes, and associated cost drivers.
• Experience with both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying activities is expected.
• Ability to review specifications, drawings, tender returns, variations, and contractual records accurately.
• Comfortable coordinating with clients, consultants, project teams, suppliers, and contractors to resolve commercial queries.

• Strong numerical analysis, cost planning, budgeting, and commercial reporting skills.
• Careful attention to detail when checking quantities, rates, supporting evidence, and contract terms.
• Clear written communication and confidence explaining cost implications to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
