Description
The Senior Resident Engineer leads on-site engineering activities for a large construction project in Dubai. The position oversees technical coordination, construction quality, programme and safety performance, acting as a key link between project management, contractors, consultants and authorities. The engineer provides direction to site teams and helps resolve issues before they affect delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate site engineering activities to meet specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.
- Work with project managers, contractors and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and protect project timelines.
- Review construction methodologies, work plans and technical submittals.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks against design information and local building codes.
- Manage and mentor junior engineers and technical staff on site.
- Prepare progress reports, identify risks, propose mitigation and liaise with authorities for approvals.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Qualification requirement: Relevant Civil/Construction Engineering qualification.
- A relevant civil or construction engineering qualification is appropriate for this role.
- Extensive experience in construction supervision and site engineering is expected.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, quality control and safety regulations is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software and Microsoft Office is useful.
- Knowledge of UAE construction standards and local building codes is important.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication and problem-solving abilities are required.
Skills and Competencies
The role calls for confident site leadership, technical review and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. The engineer should manage teams, communicate clearly with stakeholders and maintain control of quality, safety and programme risks. English fluency is required; Arabic is an advantage.
