Assistant General Counsel – Legal Affairs (Fin & Com)

flydubai is seeking an Assistant General Counsel - Legal Affairs with a finance and commercial focus to support complex legal and strategic matters across the airline. The role is responsible for negotiating and documenting significant transactions, including aircraft financing and refinancing arrangements, while also supporting commercial contracts, risk assessment and legal strategy. The position works closely with senior management, internal stakeholders and external counsel.

Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate and document medium- to high-value aircraft acquisition, refinancing and financing transactions.
• Handle loan and similar financing arrangements and advise stakeholders on legal considerations.
• Negotiate maintenance agreements, fuel arrangements, commodity agreements and selected commercial contracts.
• Advise business teams on contractual terms, liabilities, legal risks and practical solutions.
• Evaluate proposed transactions and formulate legal positions aligned with commercial requirements.
• Prioritize legal matters and collaborate across functions to support business objectives.
• Build effective working relationships with external counsel and internal clients.
• Help develop general and specialist legal strategies with senior management.
• Identify organizational legal needs and lead projects to address them.
• Develop and deliver legal training and awareness sessions for internal stakeholders.
• Supervise junior legal team members and support their professional development.
• Maintain compliance with information-security and corporate governance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law or Legal Studies.
• Admission to practice, preferably in a common-law jurisdiction, with a valid practicing certificate or equivalent.
• 4–6 years of post-qualification experience.
• Experience in asset financing, banking or commercial contracts.
• Aviation or aviation-finance experience is preferred.
• In-house and GCC experience are advantageous.
• Strong commercial understanding and cross-functional working ability.
• Excellent English drafting skills and proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
