Audio Visual Engineer

The Audio Visual Engineer supports reliable audio-visual delivery for university events, auditorium activities, meetings, and presentations. The role manages the set-up and operation of sound, display, microphone, and lighting systems, checks technical readiness before events, and provides prompt assistance during live sessions.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, test, operate, and pack down AV equipment for lectures, ceremonies, meetings, presentations, and university-wide events.
• Configure and support sound systems, microphones, LED displays, lighting controls, and related event technologies.
• Carry out pre-event checks, identify technical risks, and ensure equipment and connections are ready before participants arrive.
• Provide real-time technical troubleshooting during live sessions, coordinating calmly with event organisers and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain records of equipment, usage, maintenance needs, and recurring faults, and escalate repairs or replacements when necessary.
• Collaborate with the Digital Advancement, Transformation & AI department to meet event requirements and maintain consistent service quality.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A relevant bachelor’s degree is preferred; AV-system or sound-engineering certifications are an advantage.
• Practical knowledge of AV equipment, sound engineering, displays, microphones, and lighting control is important.
• Strong communication, collaboration, time management, initiative, and problem-solving skills are needed; English fluency is beneficial.
