Assistant Professor of Architecture/Associate Professor of Architecture

The Assistant/Associate or senior-rank faculty in Architecture contributes to studio and classroom teaching, design scholarship, curriculum development, and student mentoring. The role combines conceptual and technical instruction with critical feedback on student projects, helping students build creative, analytical, and professional design capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach architecture and related design subjects at the relevant undergraduate and postgraduate levels, combining theory, critique, studio methods, and applied design work.
• Develop syllabi, studio briefs, assessment criteria, and learning resources that support design thinking, technical knowledge, and clear communication.
• Guide student design projects and portfolios, providing constructive feedback on concept development, research, representation, and professional standards.
• Maintain a productive research, scholarship, or creative-work agenda and share outcomes through publications, exhibitions, presentations, or appropriate academic forums.
• Contribute to curriculum review, programme development, accreditation, and departmental or university service.
• Help students engage with contemporary design practice, digital representation, visual communication, sustainability, and evolving professional expectations.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in Architecture, Urban Design, Planning, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related area; a PhD in Architecture or a related field is preferred for professor-level appointments.
• Evidence of research, scholarship, creative work, and effective teaching at the relevant level.
• Strong visual communication, mentoring, presentation, and collaboration skills, including the ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds.

A portfolio of teaching, research, scholarship, or creative work is useful evidence of professional and academic strengths.
