Description
Job Purpose
To process Trade Finance transactions in accordance with bank procedures and service standards, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role also involves investigating and resolving internal and external queries, assisting in technical matters, and supporting continuous improvement across Trade Finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Process Trade Finance transactions in accordance with established procedures, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Investigate records/files to resolve queries and clarify transactional discrepancies raised internally or by external parties.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into relevant systems.
Customer Interaction & Issue Resolution
- Liaise with customers and correspondent banks to resolve queries and provide technical assistance.
- Respond to incoming messages and inquiries within defined SLAs.
- Prepare and send routine correspondence to internal/external stakeholders as needed.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain zero operational loss through accurate processing and risk awareness.
- Escalate unusual or potentially high-risk transactions to management.
- Ensure safe custody of records and uphold documentation integrity according to bank policy.
Policy & Procedure Adherence
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and bank-wide compliance guidelines.
- Contribute to periodic review and updates of SOPs.
- Demonstrate adherence to the bank’s values and ethics at all times.
Process Improvement
- Identify and propose enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce turnaround time.
- Actively participate in departmental initiatives and system upgrades.
- Support continuous process improvement to meet evolving business needs.
Reporting & Documentation
- Assist in preparing accurate reports and statistics for management and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of internal records for audit and control purposes.
Team Support & Learning
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff or clients when needed.
- Achieve assigned training man-days to enhance personal capabilities and stay current with industry best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Commerce, Finance, or Banking).
- CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist) is preferred.
Minimum Experience
-
1–3 years of experience in Trade Finance or related operations within a banking environment.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Strong understanding of Trade Finance products and processes (LCs, Guarantees, Collections, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Problem-solving and investigative skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and banking systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude
