Description
Responsible to provide a range of duties including greeting patients when they enter the medical facility, confirming and registration of new patients, billing, insurance, answering calls and checking emails on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, direct them to appropriate departments, and provide routine hospital information when necessary.
- Handle telephone inquiries from patients and relay messages to the respective doctor/nurse for callbacks.
- Manage appointments, including handling no-shows, rescheduling, and confirmations.
- Register new patients and update records for existing patients.
- Provide information on medical insurance coverage and collect payments/co-payments based on insurance eligibility.
- Offer claim forms to patients seeking reimbursement.
- Facilitate daily cash collection, credit card slips, and cheque deposits; ensure timely, accurate processing in line with finance protocols.
- Maintain working knowledge of the Hospital Information System, clinic schedules, appointment durations, doctors’ duty rosters, and booking procedures.
- Perform front desk duties including patient interaction, handling calls, cash transactions, and back-office tasks as assigned.
- Check and respond to emails daily in a timely manner.
- Ensure all operations align with hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute to team efforts and maintain a clean, safe reception area by adhering to procedures and regulations.
- Participate in hospital training programs.
- Handle complaints professionally, respectfully, and in a timely manner, aiming for service improvement.
- Follow assigned duty schedules, including variable shifts as per department needs.
- Adhere to NMC regulations and hospital policies, especially regarding infection control, patient safety, and JCI standards.
- Support and participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
- Exhibit effective interpersonal skills with staff, colleagues, and management.
- Maintain strict patient and staff confidentiality.
- Ensure high standards of data accuracy while complying with privacy regulations.
- Generate and process patient invoices for services rendered (consultations, treatments, diagnostics).
- Record all charges accurately in the patient’s account with correct service details, dates, and codes.
- Issue bills/invoices for outstanding balances (co-pays, deductibles, non-covered services).
- Provide patients with clear statements and assist them in understanding their charges and payment options.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at the time of service.
- Ensure all billing practices meet legal and insurance requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree - Any discipline or related fields. Master’s degree will be an advantage.
- 3+ years of experience in customer service role or relevant field, Healthcare experience in UAE will be an advantage
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge in Insurance, Registration and Billing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic language desirable but not essential.
- Ability to think critically and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Proficiency in MS office.
