Description
The Material Handling Equipment Operator supports warehouse movement, storage, and loading activities using forklifts and reach trucks. The role requires safe and accurate handling of goods, correct put-away and retrieval, and careful work in temperature-controlled areas, including freezer storage. Following equipment procedures is essential to protect people, stock, and warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and reach trucks for material movement, loading, unloading, and put-away tasks.
- Pick, move, and store goods in the correct locations in line with warehouse instructions.
- Work in temperature-controlled areas, including freezer environments reaching approximately -18°C.
- Handle goods carefully and maintain accurate stock movement and location information.
- Follow equipment operating guidance and warehouse safety procedures at all times.
- Keep equipment and the assigned work area clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Report equipment faults, stock discrepancies, and safety concerns promptly.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A valid RTA Forklift Operator License is required.
- Hands-on experience operating both forklifts and reach trucks.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Willingness and ability to work in cold-storage conditions, including -18°C areas.
- Follow safe operating procedures and communicate clearly with the warehouse team.
Relevant Skills
- Forklift and reach-truck operation; safe loading and unloading.
- Stock location accuracy, careful handling, and basic equipment checks.
- Attention to safety, English literacy, and teamwork.
