Staff Nurse – ICU

The Staff Nurse – ICU provides direct nursing care to critically ill patients and supports continuous assessment, monitoring and treatment in the intensive care setting. The role follows individualized care plans, responds to changes in patient condition, maintains accurate records and works closely with physicians and other care professionals to support patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients on admission and throughout the shift, recording observations and promptly reporting any deterioration.
• Implement nursing care plans and provide ordered treatments and medications according to policy and professional scope.
• Monitor vital signs, clinical equipment and patient response to treatment, escalating concerns without delay.
• Apply infection-prevention practices, patient-identification checks, medication-safety procedures and other critical-care safeguards.
• Support airway, mobility, hygiene, comfort and other daily care needs while protecting patient dignity.
• Prepare clear handovers and maintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, medication administration and outcomes.
• Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care.
• Educate patients and families when appropriate and provide clear updates within authorized communication practices.

Requirements and Skills

• Recognized nursing qualification and current professional registration.
• Applicable Dubai healthcare licence or eligibility for clinical practice.
• Relevant nursing experience, with ICU or critical-care experience important for this role.
• Sound clinical judgement, close observation, calm communication and reliable documentation.
• Ability to work in a high-acuity environment, follow protocols and collaborate effectively with the care team.
