Senior Product Designer (Design Systems)

Careem is looking for a Senior Product Designer (Design Systems) in Dubai to lead the evolution of the design system supporting its super app. The role combines rigorous systems design with practical AI tooling. The designer will own tokens, components, patterns and documentation across iOS, Android and web, including RTL and Arabic considerations, while making the system easier for designers, engineers and AI agents to consume and extend.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the lifecycle of design-system tokens, components and patterns from creation through iteration and deprecation.
• Define standards for color, typography, spacing and interaction across platforms and locales.
• Maintain intentional token architecture and clarify component ownership and responsibilities.
• Create comprehensive documentation and ensure cross-component consistency.
• Champion accessibility standards including WCAG at the system level.
• Structure tokens and components for agentic design-to-code and prompt-to-design workflows.
• Build or maintain Code Connect mappings, MCP integrations and structured component metadata.
• Implement AI-assisted audits and linting to identify off-system usage and token misuse.
• Prototype Figma plugins and agent workflows to reduce repetitive design tasks.
• Work closely with engineering to translate design patterns into deployable components.
• Facilitate design-system guilds, critiques, workshops and training while driving adoption across teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product-design experience, including at least 3 years focused on design systems at scale.
• Advanced knowledge of variables, token architecture, component APIs, library management and branching.
• Demonstrated experience building workflows with LLMs and agentic tools.
• Ability to prototype with JavaScript or TypeScript, work with JSON and manage token pipelines.
• Excellent English writing and presentation skills.
• Experience with RTL/Arabic-first products, production design-to-code pipelines or AI-and-design communities is advantageous.
