Research Systems Manager

This position contributes to research technology and systems through professional judgement and collaboration. The successful candidate will deliver agreed objectives, maintain accurate records and support consistent, high-quality outcomes within the department’s priorities and approved scope.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee systems that support research administration, funding workflows, project tracking, compliance and reporting. Work with research offices, IT teams, faculty and vendors to gather requirements, improve processes, manage system configuration and coordinate releases or integrations. Monitor data quality, access controls, user support and system performance; maintain documentation and develop reports or dashboards for decision-making. Lead user training, troubleshoot issues, plan enhancements and ensure that systems support institutional policies, audit needs and research lifecycle requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

A degree in information systems, computer science, research administration or a related field is relevant, supported by substantial experience managing enterprise applications or research systems. Experience with business analysis, systems implementation, data governance, vendor management and user support is valuable. The role requires project leadership, stakeholder communication, process improvement, technical problem-solving and a strong understanding of confidentiality and access management.
