Assistant Professor- Biological Sciences (Bioinformatics)

Job Overview

Khalifa University seeks an Assistant Professor in Biological Sciences with a focus on Bioinformatics or a closely related area. Key Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related subjects assigned by the department.
• Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, assessments, and learning resources, updating course material as the field develops.
• Monitor student progress, assess coursework and examinations, supervise projects and theses, and provide constructive feedback.
• Develop a research programme and publish peer-reviewed studies in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related area.
• Present findings at conferences and seminars, participate in professional discussions, and pursue external research funding.
• Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines on research, consultancy, and projects that strengthen scientific output.
• Contribute to departmental committees, student recruitment and support, peer review, and public-engagement activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a closely related discipline is required.
• The degree should be from a recognized institution, with preference for a globally highly ranked university.
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
• Candidates should demonstrate scholarly potential and peer-reviewed publications relevant to bioinformatics or computational biology.
• Applicants should be capable of teaching, supervising students, collaborating across fields, and contributing to academic service.
