Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Consultant Physician to join Tawam Hospital’s multidisciplinary medical team. This leadership position is responsible for delivering expert clinical care, supporting departmental performance management, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to quality improvement and educational activities. The role emphasizes collaborative practice, continuous improvement, and upholding SEHA’s mission to deliver world-class healthcare.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
1. Managerial & Administrative
- Support implementation of hospital, departmental, and divisional policies and initiatives
- Participate in performance management systems, including peer review and utilization reviews
- Assist with scheduling to ensure adequate medical coverage across the Division
- Attend divisional meetings and contribute to recruitment efforts for medical staff
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Division Chief
2. Clinical Excellence
- Diagnose and treat patients following best practice standards in the designated specialty
- Oversee and guide junior medical staff, ensuring quality and safety in care delivery
- Comply with hospital protocols regarding patient admission, treatment, procedures, and discharge
- Lead ward rounds and conduct regular reassessments of inpatients and outpatients
- Maintain accurate, timely medical documentation and review diagnostic results
- Coordinate with other specialties and support services for integrated care planning
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings for holistic patient management
- Accept referrals and manage patient cases from various departments and external facilities
- Participate in rotational on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Communicate clinical information clearly to patients and their families (with consent)
- Foster a collaborative team environment and uphold patient dignity
3. Quality & Safety
- Lead and support quality improvement initiatives within the department
- Encourage regular clinical audits and use findings to enhance practices
- Participate in incident reporting, investigation, and improvement processes
4. Education & Research
- Mentor and supervise junior medical staff, fostering a culture of learning
- Facilitate essential clinical training and CME activities
- Stay current with medical literature, emerging trends, and technologies
- Promote and contribute to clinical research, academic presentations, and publications
📋 Qualifications
Required- Tier 1: Minimum 2 years of experience post board certification as a Consultant
- Tier 2: Minimum 8 years of full-time employment as a Consultant post board certification (includes fellowship years in accredited institutions)
- Clinical Fellowship training (Australia, NZ, UK, USA, Canada, or HAAD-accredited) may count as double towards experience requirements
- Board certification in a recognized medical specialty
- Clinical subspecialty fellowship (preferred for specialized roles)
