1. Key Responsibilities and Activities
A. Managerial/Administrative
Responsibility | Key Activities |
---|---|
Implementation of organizational policies | Support, implement, and adhere to all hospital, departmental, and divisional policies and procedures. |
Performance management | Assist in implementing peer review processes, productivity and utilization reviews. Participate actively in these evaluations. |
Staffing & scheduling | Aid the Division Chief with duty scheduling and ensuring 24/7 coverage within the division. |
Meetings & recruitment | Attend divisional meetings; assist with recruitment of new medical staff when needed. |
Other tasks | Perform administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief. |
B. Clinical/Technical
Responsibility | Key Activities |
---|---|
Patient care | Diagnose and treat patients per specialty-specific best practices and established clinical standards. |
Oversight | Supervise junior medical staff and assume responsibility for the care they provide. |
Hospital protocols | Comply with policies on admissions, consultations, procedures, discharges, and follow-ups. |
Resource utilization | Ensure appropriate use of organizational resources and services. |
Ward rounds | Lead inpatient rounds; reassess patients regularly. |
Documentation | Maintain timely, accurate, and clear documentation in the EMR system. |
Investigations | Review diagnostics and modify treatment accordingly. |
Interdisciplinary collaboration | Communicate and coordinate with other specialties and services. |
MDT participation | Engage in multidisciplinary meetings for safe and holistic patient care planning. |
Consent & preparation | Ensure patients are adequately prepared for procedures and informed consent is obtained. |
Referrals | Accept referrals from ED, primary care, other specialties, and external hospitals. |
On-call duty | Participate in on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays. |
Communication | Inform patients and families of medical status with appropriate consent. |
Teamwork | Foster a collaborative work culture with staff members. |
Other responsibilities | Perform additional clinical duties as assigned. |
C. Quality & Safety

2. Qualifications
Required Qualifications- Medical Degree with specialization from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 institution (as per SEHA criteria)
- Valid national license (or equivalent)
- Certified proof of annual Continuing Medical Education (CME)
3. Experience Requirements

Tier 1 | Minimum 2 years of post-board certification experience as a Consultant (or equivalent) |
Tier 2 | Minimum 8 years of full-time post-board certification employment (includes fellowship years) in an internationally accredited institution |
For UAE Nationals:
- Clinical fellowship training after primary board certification may be substituted for experience:
- 1 year of fellowship = 2 years of clinical experience
- Applicable only for subspecialty fellowships in: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, USA, or HAAD-accredited programs
