Description

The Clinical Psychologist will independently provide high-quality psychological assessment, consultation, and intervention services to individuals, families, and groups. The role involves formulating risk assessments, managing complex clinical presentations, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and contributing to service development. The psychologist will also support quality improvement, staff education, and evidence-based practices in mental health care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Deliver specialist psychological assessments and therapy for patients across outpatient, inpatient, and community settings.
  • Develop individualized intervention plans, incorporating multiple psychological models and complex developmental factors.
  • Coordinate and formulate clinical risk assessments and contribute to care planning.
  • Provide therapy to individuals, groups, and families with severe psychological difficulties.
  • Deliver expert consultation to multi-disciplinary teams on psychological formulations and interventions.
  • Ensure high clinical standards and culturally sensitive service delivery.

Operational & Managerial

  • Support service coverage across departments, including mental health, inpatient, and outpatient units.
  • Collaborate with senior psychologists and other clinical leaders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prioritize and manage caseloads based on complexity and acuity of psychological presentations.

Quality & Safety

  • Maintain rigorous confidentiality and compliance with infection control and patient safety standards.
  • Document all interventions and progress notes in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and risk management processes.

Education & Professional Development

  • Contribute to training programs for junior staff, nurses, and residents.
  • Engage in continuing education, seminars, and mandatory training for license renewal.
  • Participate in team meetings, internal committees, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology (Clinical or Counseling Psychology).
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital, clinic, or mental health setting.
  • Eligible for UAE practice license (DoH / MOH / DHA).
  • Experience working with diverse and complex mental health populations.

Preferred

  • Arabic speaker.
  • Prior experience in the UAE or GCC region.
  • Training in specialized therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care).

  • Advanced clinical formulation and risk assessment skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Cultural sensitivity and client-centered approach.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficient in clinical documentation and electronic health records.
