Hostess

Kitopi is looking for a professional Hostess who can welcome guests, manage seating and help the front-of-house team maintain an organised service flow. The Hostess is often the first person guests meet, so a warm greeting, a polished appearance and clear communication are important. The role supports both guest satisfaction and the smooth day-to-day running of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet guests on arrival with courtesy and guide them through the seating process.
• Manage reservations and waiting lists using a seating chart or booking software, keeping information accurate.
• Escort guests to tables, present menus and explain expected wait times when the restaurant is busy.
• Accommodate reasonable guest requests where possible and coordinate seating changes with the service team.
• Communicate with servers and kitchen staff to support a balanced flow of tables and timely service.
• Answer calls and respond to enquiries in a polite, helpful manner.
• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the entrance, hostess station and front-of-house areas.
• Handle guest concerns calmly and refer more complex complaints to management.
• Assist with simple administrative duties and provide support to colleagues during peak periods.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous work as a hostess or in another customer-facing position is an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A professional appearance and a friendly, confident manner.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm when there are competing demands.
• Availability for evenings, weekends and holidays; familiarity with reservation systems is beneficial.
